LS9 Club Expansion to Victoria Primary Academy, Leeds

Due to growing popularity and success of the LS9 Club at Richmond Hill Community, we recognised a clear need to extend this provision across the wider LS9 community. In response, we explored opportunities to broaden our reach, resulting in a new partnership with Victoria Primary Academy. This expansion now enables us to engage an additional 25–30 young people from the community each week.

This growth has been made possible through the generous support of The National Lottery Community Fund and the Inner East Community Committees. Their investment has allowed us not only to expand, but to successfully replicate a proven model that is already delivering meaningful impact for children and young people locally.

At the heart of this expansion is a strong belief in the importance of developing essential life and social skills from an early age. By providing structured, high-quality opportunities during the primary years, we help young people build confidence, resilience, teamwork, and communication skills—foundations that will support them throughout their education and into adulthood. Early intervention is key; when children are given the right support and opportunities at a young age, it significantly enhances their long-term outcomes and sense of belonging.

Through the LS9 Club, young people take part in a wide range of enriching activities. These include social action projects that encourage them to give back and take pride in their community, skills-based sessions that build personal and practical capabilities, and dance programmes delivered by our valued partners at Dance Action Zone Leeds. In addition, participants benefit from cultural visits that broaden their horizons and expose them to new experiences beyond their immediate environment.

Importantly, this programme is not just about individual development—it is about strengthening the wider community. By engaging young people in positive activities, fostering local partnerships, and creating safe, inclusive spaces, we are helping to build a more connected, resilient, and empowered LS9 community for the future.

Thank you Victoria Primary Academy, The National Lottery Community Fund, CO-OP and Inner East Community Committee funding for supporting this vital work with children and young people across Leeds LS9.

NEXT STEPS: Develop young leaders and the delivery model for both dance and youth skills.
